    Adobe Illustrators Intertwine Tool

Really feeling blessed with some of the recent tools released in Adobe Creative Cloud 2023 and none more so than Adobe Illustrators Intertwine Tool – what a corker! This tool lets you add dimension and depth to your designs with a couple of clicks. Maybe a better way to describe it is to say its like a weave, it lets you weave paths and shapes through one another easily and seamlessly creating beautiful overlapping effects at the same time.

Illustrator’s Intertwine works with many features including text, primitives, 3D /2D objects even keeping effects such as drop shadows etc.

    Adobe Illustrator Appearance Panel

Posted on 13th August 2022 by Greta Powell

    Adobe Illustrator Appearance Panel

It’s quite odd that of all the forty one panels that live inside Illustrator that one of the most useful is often ignored. The Adobe Illustrator Appearance Panel is impressive to say the list and quite possibly in the top three of all forty one of them.

We cover it on the Illustrator Training Courses and show a number of different ways it can be used to create outstanding artwork.

What can you do with the Appearance Panel?

Like all panels the Appearance panel can be found under the Window menu. It lets you view and change different appearances to a group, object or a layer. Similiar to layers you can also shuffle the order of the objects attributes. Multiple effects such as fills, strokes and FX effects can be applied and are listed in the order they were applied.

    Onsite Adobe Courses

As of the 24th of August we are now out and about delivering onsite Adobe courses again. And we’re pleased to say this first week back has been a busy one. We thought it might be an idea to post a bit of an update about what we’re up to post lock-down and how our onsite Adobe training went this week. So two courses over four days, the first two Illustrator in Nottingham, the second Adobe Captivate in Huddersfield. It was great to be back in training rooms with our delegates. Regardless of training its been really good to be back with people again.

    Vector Shapes in Illustrator

A very short post today to share a handy Illustrator tutorial link on working with Basic Vector Shapes in Illustrator on the Adobe website. It is an extremely clear and progressive tutorial that shows you how easy it is to created artwork from very basic tools.

A quick addendum this was originally a short post but on reflection vector shapes deserve more, much more so the post has been updated to give you more examples and links of how these fundamental elements of Illustrator work. Should you wish to enter this wonderful work you will find that all of this and more is covered on the Introduction to Illustrator Training course where you will create, edit and work with your own lines, primitives shapes and paths to build your own original artwork. Because they are ‘live shapes’ you can continually edit them with no quality loss whatsoever.

Otherwise why not click on the Read More button below to find out more about how paths, shapes work in Illustrator.

    PANTONE 16 1546 Living Coral

There’s always passion for colours here, it’s great to see delegates faces when they see the swatches for the first time in the software and realise the range of colours they have to work with. However unlike last year when we wrote the Vibrant Ultra Violet(18-3838) post virtually on its date release we’re running late with these years appointed pantone. Which is, a luscious orange known as Pantone 16-1546 Living Coral and if you like bright, we do, then you will love this.

    Illustrator Tutorial – Crop Tool

Posted on 7th May 2018 by Greta Powell

    Illustrator Tutorial, Crop Tool

One of the questions I get asked on Illustrator Training Courses is ‘How do I crop an Image in Illustrator’?  Quite simply in earlier versions the answer was you can’t. We used clipping masks and workarounds in those early versions.

However that’s all changed in Illustrator CC because now it comes fully equipped with a crop tool

    Illustrator Training Tips

The Illustrator Training Tips demonstrate just how many effective Illustrator Tools are concealed under the hood of the software. One of these is the Illustrator Width Tool covered on the Introduction to Illustrator Course which is used to adjust the thickness of stroke on objects such as primitives, geometric’s and straight lines.

Illustrator’s Width Tool is covered on the Introduction to Illustrator Training Course but in the meantime why not take a quick look at the two mini video tutorials on the Illustrator width tool.

Pantone Colour of the Year – 18-3838

Posted on 28th December 2017 by Greta Powell

18-3838 – Pantone Colour of the year

So sometimes I do ‘get it right’ – my website had a major overhaul earlier this year but we opted to keep the same colour theme as the previous one and yes its pretty much the same shade as 18-3838. Its very rare when training most days that Pantone Swatches don’t get a mention, its normally the opposite

    Short History of Pantone Colours

Pantone began life in the early 1950’s owned by the printers M & J. Levine Advertising but the foundations that are known today were founded in 1962 when it was purchased by a long term employee Lawrence Herbert who’d been there since 1956 (my birth year – weird or what?)
