Basically this Photoshop video gives you an idea of how to pick out specific areas of an image such as food, buildings, people or in this case a flower. Masks are really like stencils because they hide or reveal different details of an image.
This is the first part of some quick tutorials on various masking techniques.
As well as Quick Mask there are a number of different masking techniques in Photoshop which include vector masks & layer masks. But more about them in a later Photoshop video. For now lets take a look at the Quick Mask Tool and see how it works.
The image shows a bunch of violas and we needed to isolate the front viola face to enhance it a little – make it pop in other words. It’s not an overly complex image so the Quick Mask Tool was the obvious choice.
Next time we’ll take a quick look at working with vector masks but now on this rather rainy Saturday morning.
Goodbye & thank you for watching
