Adobe Illustrator Freeform Gradient
The superb new Freeform Gradient in Adobe Illustrator 2019 blew us all away on an Illustrator Course in Nottingham earlier this week. The original image was line art and with the combination of the Trace Tool & the new Gradient some beautiful images were created.
What is the Freeform Gradient in Adobe Illustrator 2019?
In addition to the older gradient options the Gradient Panel (Window >Gradient) or select the Gradient Tool from the tools menu now contains a third option known as Freeform.
Radial Gradient
Creates circular gradients
Linear Gradients
Blends colours along a line
Use this gradient type to blend colors from one point to another point in a circular pattern.
Freeform
This new gradient editor lets you create various colour stops and starts in a shape giving you the ability to literally apply blended shading in a more natural and fluid way. There are two alternative ways to work with Freeform:
Points: Use this mode to shade the area around a color stop.
Lines: Use this mode to shade the area around a line.
