Adobe Illustrator Appearance Panel

It’s quite odd that of all the forty one panels that live inside Illustrator that one of the most useful is often ignored. The Adobe Illustrator Appearance Panel is impressive to say the list and quite possibly in the top three of all forty one of them.

We cover it on the Illustrator Training Courses and show a number of different ways it can be used to create outstanding artwork.

What can you do with the Appearance Panel?

Like all panels the Appearance panel can be found under the Window menu. It lets you view and change different appearances to a group, object or a layer. Similiar to layers you can also shuffle the order of the objects attributes. Multiple effects such as fills, strokes and FX effects can be applied and are listed in the order they were applied.

Onsite Adobe Courses

As of the 24th of August we are now out and about delivering onsite Adobe courses again. And we’re pleased to say this first week back has been a busy one. We thought it might be an idea to post a bit of an update about what we’re up to post lock-down and how our onsite Adobe training went this week. So two courses over four days, the first two Illustrator in Nottingham, the second Adobe Captivate in Huddersfield. It was great to be back in training rooms with our delegates. Regardless of training its been really good to be back with people again.

InDesign Courses in Nottingham

During the Autumn there are a number of InDesign Courses in Nottingham being run by Vantage Training in conjunction with Greta Powell. These are being run as a series of workshops and there are currently a few spaces available. The training is being hosted at Vantage’s Nottingham based offices with Greta doing the training over three days. The workshops are being run at three levels from introduction through to advanced. Premier Pro Training Course

Terrific feedback from a recent Premier Pro Training Course held for one of my clients. This was an Introduction to Premier Pro course tailored around the marketing needs requested by the client at the beginning of the brief. Held over two days content was sourced from the company themselves who had generated their own videos and was then put together with various clips in Premier as a training scenario. During the training we worked with editing the sound, adding voice overs and applying transitions and PIP’s to ‘jazz’ up the video.

Photoshop CC 2018 Select Subject

At long last here is the new Select Subject Tool in Photoshop CC 2018 which, as its name suggests lets you select the main subject of the photo usually an animal or person but with a single click after which you go into Select and Mask to refine the subject selection. It’s all thanks to Adobes new ‘AI’ technology known as Adobe Sensei which is behind the Adobe Stock search engine. Enough of the technical already and lets take a look at how it works.
